Great food, friendly staff, comfy booths, fabulous no-grain tabbouli & endless flat bread. The perfect destination for an evening walk across the Tilikum Bridge! (Meats a bit overcooked but otherwise worth a Five.)
Delicious and very fresh.
The best in town, no doubt from appetizers to main dishes and don't forget the desserts, all highly rated !!
You got to love places where the owners are actually from the middle east. We were greeted with smiles and felt welcomed. Great customer service awesome family and delicious food
Great hummus, delicious shawarma, would recommend going here.
Excellent food and service. They have so many vegetarian and vegan options, I have to go back and try some more. And the coffe,oh, the is a dream. Highly recommended.
We have been coming here since they opened. The owner and his crew understand good customer service and making excellent food! They are very personable and passionate about their business. You have to try this place and you will know why it keeps us coming back!!
Lovely and wonderful restaurant
Very nice, quiet restaurant with excellent food. We went at 2 PM, which was a low volume time. The food was all fresh with a very nice variety of flavors. The service was equally good.
Had lunch with a coworker. Amazing food, and mixed drinks. Clean nice atmosphere. The owner served us. Very customer oriented young man. I highly recommend.
excellent service, and delicious food
Had a lovely tasty lunch outside. Staff was very friendly and my falafel was so good!!!
Great ambiance with terrific food and service
Fresh, uniquely authentic flavors in an open friendly atmosphere. The service was unparalleled!
Today was our first time here and we were really impressed by the food and hospitality of the owner and the staff. The food was absolutely delicious and we were really satisfied.
Besides the food, we really liked the well decorated restaurant. It's really beautiful and cozy with great atmosphere!
The sort of restaurant where you come for the food and immediately feel like family. Courteous business owner, great food options and well priced. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good meal on the South Waterfront
When we arrived at Al-Hawr at around 4pm, we were the only customers in the entire restaurant, so needless to say, we were seated immediately, and had the full attention of the host, who also doubled as our server. If I had to wager a guess, I would assume he was the owner, judging by his friendly, assured demeanor and generous nature.
We were pretty hungry, having skipped lunch, but also tremendously indecisive, so we settled on an array of various appetizers, to give us plenty of variety. Our order included the Fattoush salad, hot hummus cocktail (with filet mignon!), spinach "wontons" (for lack of a better descriptor), and a single falafel (although we ended up with a full order of four!).
Hot flatbread with thick, creamy yogurt dip and sesame oil with seeds and za'atar was quick to arrive, "compliments of the house", we were informed. They quickly disappeared from the plate, prompting a refill! The various appetizers-as-entrees arrived shortly thereafter altogether, except the falafels, which appeared a few minutes later.
The Fattoush salad was delicious, walking a fine line between savory and vinegary, but also tangy and sweet, due to the presence of pomegranate. Light and refreshing!
The hummus cocktail came warm (as advertised) with small pieces of filet mignon and pine nuts, and drizzled with oil and lemon juice, the steak cooked and seasoned perfectly, tasting as if they'd come fresh off the barbecue! A surprisingly favorable pairing with the hummus!
The deep fried spinach "wontons" (I hate myself for using that term, but it's reasonably accurate) were not particularly to our taste. They advertise tomato and onion, but it tasted like spinach and spinach, with a side of spinach. A little too much, in our opinion, and would benefit from being softened with some feta (or similar) cheese, and perhaps some additional seasoning of some sort. As is, they were just OK, and improved by a quick dip through the yogurt dip that came with the bread.
The falafels were hot and crisp on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, and just about as perfect as can be. A dip in the hummus for an added flavor kick is a must, so grab some on the side, if necessary!
Service was impeccable and timely, although expected, being the only patrons at the time. Still, the professionalism, quality and timeliness of our experience leaves no doubt that we would receive similar treatment, even in the midst of the dinner rush. Al Hawr is a quality, fine-dining establishment with a fantastic reputation, professional staff, an incredible wine list (although we abstained this time, due to being mid-day) and a romantic atmosphere. A five-star establishment on all points, and one of the best Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurants in Portland. Look no further.
Great food and atmosphere
Delicious food and the best service! Highly recommend!
Great food, and super nice people.
THE BEST Lebanese food west of Lebanon. I would travel across the country just to eat here (and I did twice now)! You can taste the pride and love in this food. Dont skip dessert- Knafeh like you can only get in the Middle East.
Wooow! this place is above and beyond. I would give them 10 stars just for the lamb chops alon and another 10 stars for the rest
No joke no joke i traveled alot im that person who keeps hunting good quality food around specially for meat quality.
after i stopped by Al-hawr I couldnt moved forward anymore!
Best lamb chops no competition at all.
Best Lebanese food I've had, and I feel like I'm cheating on all my other favorites to say it, but this is fresh, brilliantly prepared and I'm working my way through the menu. Second visit as great as the first! Third coming up soon.
Best Lebanese food in town! The owner is great definitely made us feel at home and accommodated !!! I would definitely try the tabouli and anything with LAMB!!!! Fantastic experience Open late, super kind. Just overall great experience.
Best customer service so far and very delicious food
This is our neighborhood spot in a brand-new neighborhood, and it was just the welcome we needed! Wonderful service, terrific food, lovely cocktails. What more could you ask for? We'll be back about once a week!
One of the best places in Oregon for authentic Lebanese cuisine. You know its good arabic food when you find it hard to stop eating! The staff are friendly and caring! Highly recommend
This was easily one of the best if not THE BEST Middle Eastern cuisine Ive ever had. Everything was delicious. From the pomegranate salad dressing to the humus and lamb cocktail and mouthwatering kabobs, our meal was exquisite. The owner was really nice and took pride in his family-run restaurant. I cant say more, other than GO THERE!
Food was great, with ingredients of exceptional quality. The service was prompt, and the whole team was very friendly. My only suggestion would be to possibly expand the menu, by adding more saucy dishes.
Overall I highly recommend this restaurant. You will truly enjoy the experience.
I ordered delivery and everything was so delicious and special, from the chicken livers (yes!) to the extra fresh pita!
Great place, great food. The dishes are true Lebanese cuisine, fresh and delicious!
My review is long overdue. Went there few weeks ago and the place was amazing. The decoration is gorgeous. The service was excellent and the food was the best Lebanese food I've had in a while . Stop by and try it out , you won't regret it !!!
Beautiful place, delicious food, and friendly service! Recommend getting a bunch of little plates to try all the great dishes. Try the Creamy Chicken Pepper and thank me later!
Great atmosphere and the service was spectacular. The food was amazing and was very traditional. Will definitely eat here again!
The food and service were great. Also the falafel was one of the best that Ive ever had.
Loved it. Dont know lebanese food. But the pits was warm and soft. Nothing like we get in the store. And the flavors were bright and intense. Very good.
Best of the best, a place you must visit and taste the Lebanese food
Very flavorful and fresh.
OMG they have this date drink called Jallab which tastes like heaven! Delicious food, friendly staff, and food was ready really fast. Im not from around here but would definitely come here for food next time I was around!
Excellent service great food
Food was great. Kafka amazing and the dough appetizer was tasty. Service stands out. The family team made us feel like family and gave our young daughter a free desert. We will be back.
I cannot recommend this place enough. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Not only was the food exceptional but the service was beyond excellent! It was our very first time going and we were blown away. We were probably one of the last ones, if not the last group eating and yet we were treated like the very first costumers of the day. I highly recommended their cotton candy dessert. So original!! Love love loved this place!
Food is excellent. Ambiance inside is very nice. The service is great. We've yet to eat anything we didn't like. Definitely worth checking out.
Wonderful cozy, warm people, fresh food new flavors, loved it all
I love this place so much! The service is outstanding as is the food. Its really never too busy, as its kinda just a happy little secret down in South Portland. Yum.
I loved there food it was delicious. There customer service was excellent.
Beyond Exceptional food and service.
The chicken wings BOMB !!!!
Good and fresh, excellent hummus and tabouleh.
discovered this gem while visiting at hospital OHSU. The food is absolutely divine. The best middle eastern food in pdx by far. its a long drive for me but I am going to put Al Hawr in regular rotation! real Hummous, amazing kibbe, chicken livers, ahhhh
Very good food and nice environment
Alhawr resturant is my favorite place in the city of Portland. Great food, service and atmosphere. They were nice to wait for us tonight even though we were there very close to their closing time after a long day. Appreciate it so much.
Delicious food and excellent service. By far the best Lebanese restaurant on South Waterfront.
Great food and a excellent atmosphere. I'd go there again for sure.
Awesome place, clean and the food is amazing maybe a little bit high price but for overall experience its good and worth to try.
The best Lebanese food I have ever tasted, in my life!
There is a full bar and the service was outstanding. The food...nothing was short of gourmet, and we ordered a huge spread.
The background music. The ambiance. The lighting. Everything was spot on.
I suggest you arrive early to snag a seat outside of the weather permits. There was no room for us two outside, but dining inside was not a let down.
Oh yeah, the menus are leather bound!
we are hooked and now ruined for any other sub par Lebanese food we might end up at. Great food, great service. We went with friends from Lebanon (not the oregon Lebanon) and tried things we wouldnt have ordered and loved everything. They even confirmed this was authentic and we've been back multiple times!
I can't wait to come back here. From the reviews it seems like this is real authentic Lebanese food. I just ordered hummus and wine but I would love to try the food. The hummus was great. The decor and ambiance is nice, and if you get there after, I think it's 7pm, then parking is free. I think it's street parking only. I didn't see a lot.
Beautiful space, excellent nutritious food, friendly entrepreneurial family restaurant owners from
Lebanon. Such a great experience!
Tea comes in its own little kettle.
They even made gluten & dairy free pita bread for my princess self (I didnt ask for this, but it was so kind + delicious).
5 Stars all around.
Upscale Lebanese food and run by a very nice family. We received free pita and Turkish coffee with our dinner.
The best middle eastern restaurant so far in Portland,OR. Beautiful seating, clean & delicious hummus, kofta, rice , bread & lemonade juice! Yummy kanefah for dessert
Very nice and professional service
Great food and Very beautiful place
I would give more than 5 stars
This is the best Authentic Lebanese Food I ever had in Oregon. The hummus that comes with the fresh pita bread were amazing. We ordered tabbouli, kibbeh and baba ghannouj and they were fresh and delicious. This business was operated by a very nice family. Moreover, the restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated. We definetly will come back again.
We went to have dinner with my family and actually we were not disappointed. Everything we ordered were fresh and delicious especially the baba ghanoush and lamb kabab. The restaurant was clean and the location is very nice. I highly recommend this place.
Let me just say - amazing !! My parents used to have a lebanese restaurant(we are 100% Lebanese) in downtown Portland ( 2004-2009 ) since then whenever I eat lebanese food I'm pretty much THAT critique. Al hawr is the real deal, from the food, to the bread, to the hummus, to the owner . Authentic, authentic , delicious .
This is worth the trip ! Loves the kafta and the lamb chop was out of this world . 10/10
Absolutely spectacular ! Great service great people . I tried nearly everything . Absolutely no risk enjoy and have fun try it all . Just enjoy yourself and have an experience unforgettable .
I went with seven other friends for the first time this evening to Al-Hawr Restaurant and we were very impressed by the place. The owner SHADI and his son were very friendly, the food was very very tasty because of the quality of ingredients including the olive oil that is added to a lot of appetizers. The drinks were so refreshing and the deserts would made your mouth melt. . We really enjoyed everything and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I personally would recommend this restaurant big time and I would definitely go back in the near future.
Such an amazing place. Pita is delicious and I just learned what labneh is and I am obsessed. Highly recommend the Ras Asfour appetizer. I get it every time because the flavors are so delicious.
The best hummus in town, hands down! The food is fresh and the service in this family owned restaurant is family-like. Highly recommend!!
Great Food ,Great Service.
Cool atmosphere. Food is good, too. I think it's kinda overpriced
Love the food
Exceptional food and service!! Best meal I have had on a long time.
Been to most of the Lebanese and other Middle Eastern restaurants in Portland throughout the years and Al Hawr is by far my favorite for their quality in taste, authenticity (Lebanese family owned and operated), ingredients, service, and ambiance. Last time I went in, my server, Emad, was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Highly highly recommend!
Amazing gyro. The hummus was home made and delicious
Nice dinner. Very good service as well.
Yes, please! A must-go in Portlandia. Yummmmmmmmmmmm.
it is very delicious and have Arabic food .
The BEST Mediterranean/Lebanese restaurant in all of Portland and possibly all of Oregon! Im in love. Im the luckiest eater on the planet, and a mean food critic, but I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone in a heartbeat.
Food is deeeeeelicious! Get the lamb and mixed dough! Yum
This place is as authentic as it gets. A little pricey but doesnt stop us from coming here. The staff is so friendly and the owner came and spoke to us personally. I highly recommend the Batata harra appetizer. Its one of my favorite dishes growing up and theirs are fantastic! Also their hummus is great. Chicken skewers were alright and the kofta was delicious!
It's very good
I absolutely love having dinner here whenever I visit Portland. This family-owned spot is warm and inviting and the food is absolutely delicious and fresh. We ordered the hot mint tea, lamb cocktail (hummus w/lamb), mezza (sampler platter), fattoush salad, lamb kafftah and EVERYTHING was prepared to perfection. Completely stuffed for less than 50 bucks for two. Sadly, we didn't have room for dessert. I highly recommend, if you enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine.
I would show pictures of my food, but let's be honest- I scarfed it down. I usually try to avoid falafels because when they're not good, they're awful. These little tasty bits of heaven are INCREDIBLE. I had one last a few hours longer than the others. But when I woke up, I knew that little nugget of goodness was waiting in the fridge. You know it's amazing, when it's cold and still has a crispy, flavorful mmmm factor. It might be a bad thing I can walk there daily.
(Translated by Google) Beautiful, tidy and well eat 4.5 out of 5
This place is the best. The food is amazing. The chicken shawarma is the best Ive ever had. The staff are so kind and so personable. I love that its a family run restaurant. My friend and were eating there and our waiter came to check on how we were liking our food. We raved about one of the sauces and he told us his mom makes the sauce. I love that!!
Absolutely amazing food and a truly unique eating experience. Family owned and some of the nicest folk I have ran into at a restaurant.
Friendly, cozy, lovely decor, suited to distanced and outdoor dining. The food is great, the hummus is fantastic! The prices are reasonable. I love going to Al Hawr and it helps im in the neighborhood!
Amazing hot, fresh food. Fabulous, courteous service!
We had an amazing customer service and experience at Al-Hawr.
Food is incredible good, Stuff is extremely nice and professional and this is the cleanest restaurant in Portland!!
Good job guys, I highly recommend this restaurant
The atmosphere, service and overall ambience is only rivald by the amazing food. Highly recommend this place.
Herd alot about this place, went there and i was impressed the staff is very friendly the quality of the food is none other than 5 star
I will be back every week!
This spot was an unexpected lunch gem
Amazing food. Amazing service. A wonderful family runs Al-Hawr. Their lamb is phenomenal. They also were able to manage my food allergies super well. All their food is fresh and made in house. I will be back!
Amazing food ! Super healthy too!
Best Lebanese food in town. Very authentic and fantastic service. We had an absolutely fantastic experience and will be back.
Wonderful Lebanese food experience. Amazing falafel, lamb and home made pita.
The most authentic lebanese food in the PNW. My favorite dishes were the hummus with meat, sawda, sojok and the tabbouleh. The owner is extremely friendly and the server as well. Will definitely be back.
Excellent spot for lebanese food. Don't fret if it's busy, it is worth the wait. The place has an awesome feel to it. Atmosphere is similar to a cafe in San Jose I loved.
Getting my tastebuds blown again by the best Lebanese food on the west coast.
Im so happy I found this wonderful spot today. The falafel sandwich, salad, and zaatar were superb. I cant wait to go back. Yaaaaaay!!!!!! Thank you for making such a wonderful lunch. It made my day. Ill happily return.
Delicious Lebanese cuisine. The chicken and lamb were flavorful, and I loved their saffron rice. The staff was friendly and and very attentive. The ambiance is welcoming, and the lighting is great for dining. Check out this place, you wont be disappointed!
Great food and service! Will be back again.
Some of the best Lebanese food I've ever had in the US. Generous portions, well seasoned and tender meat, and clear high quality ingredients and service, all at very reasonable prices. Also, the space is beautiful!
Highly recommend Al Hawr for an upscale feeling dinner but without the upscale cost.
I never had Lebanese food before. This place was very pleasant. Mom's the cook and her kids serve the food. Attractive decor. I would go back. I had lamb chops and they were excellent. The accompanying rice was the best. Very light and flavorful
Outstanding spot for tasty Lebanese food.
Eventhough there was no tent or heating provided for the cold and the rain.... the food was worth it.
Amazing food! Fresh and excellent ingredients. The best hummus you can buy. Very friendly family.
This place has great food! But for the price, given there is no service involved right now, its kind of expensive for take out, I mean $7 for a side of fries? I want to support local business down here, but this dinner will run you $25-30 just for take out. I wish they had some daily take out special or something - that would be great!
The Best ever Mediterranean food in town ! 100 stars and above !!!
Friendly staff, average wait time and GREAT food. This place checks all the boxes!
Super delicious. I had the Chicken Shawarma and my boyfriend had the Chicken Breast Shish Tawook. We went here on a whim on the way to Bend, and are so glad we did. The service was outstanding, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was funky and comfortable. The family that owns it is so kind and very welcoming which was much appreciated on a particularly cold and rainy PNW day. Will be back the next time were in Portland.
I'm on the road, so I didn't get the full atmosphere of dining in, but my takeout order was ready very quickly and was quite tasty.
This place is authentic and a class act. The food is amazing. But what really makes the place is the friendly owners. I love it.
Great food, great service. Great smiles. Highly recommend.
Friendly environment. Amazing food
This is a great place! The food is amazing! The people are friendly. We will definitely go back.
Great food and great location. Very nice family restaurant
Best Authentic Lebanese food in Oregon, the food is beyond AMAZING, very tasteful, I felt like I was eating back home. Their bread Fattoush, all the appetizers, and the main courses were amazing, their portion is generous. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. A MUST MUST MUST TRY, it will be my first to go option when looking for Lebanese/ Mediterranean food.
Love love love this restaurant! Not only is the food the best Lebanese food you'll ever have, the owner and staff are so accommodating and kind. It's always a treat when we visit. Be sure to order their hummus! Best you'll find anywhere!! You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Be sure to visit if you are in Portland!
Excellent Lebanese food everything is delicious
Great food and friendly staff! The balsamic vinegar salad was delicious as well as the Ras Asfoor.
Amazing place, food was super fresh and delicious.. great service, cant be happier. thank you
First timer and very pleased!
What a wonderful experience, fresh and homemade ingredients, friendly and so nice staff.
This is only real Lebanese food restaurant in Oregon.
I will come back for sure.
Best Lebanese food in Portland, The mezza, grills and salads rock. Service is amazing. Highly recomended.
Amazing in all aspects! Food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, especially the meat. The ambiance was comfortable and enjoyable, easy to visit in. The service was generous, kind and very responsive. Chadi the owner and his family were wonderful! We will be back!!!

If youre looking for authentic Middle Eastern ( Lebanese ) food in the Portland Metro area then thats definitely your to go restaurant. They have more than amazing food, the absolute best service and a perfect atmosphere. Also the owner and staff are super friendly and nice. If you are in Portland and still havent been to that place, youre just missing a lot.
Last night I went to Al Hawr restaurant for the first time and food and service was fantastic. Definitely I will go back again and I do recommended to everyone. Shima S
Outstanding food, perfectly cooked and high quality, the avocado hummus is to die for, take out is easy and quick, you will not be disappointed....
Great authentic Lebanese food and super friendly staff.
Friendly staff, great food, very nice place
- Ali A.
Fantastic food, somehow even better dessert, which I didn't think was possible considering how great the food was. Fantastic service too, waiters were nice and took care of everything perfectly and also had great recommendations that did not disappoint. Go here, it's fantastic.
- Samuel N.
The falafel was some of the best I've ever had, lebneh was outstanding, lamb shawarma excellent and to top it off they even had gluten free pita bread. I would definitely order again! It was a real treat. Yumm!
Very solid choice if you're looking to eat in the South Waterfront! I've had my fair share of Lebanese food in/about NYC and I was still excited to find unique menu items here. We went with the sojok and lamb shawarma. The sojok was new to me and my favorite. It is a hot appetizer but if you order with some pita on the side it can definitely be a main dish. It is amazingly flavorful and I will be going back for this alone. The shawarma was so-so, a bit tough and less flavorful in comparison but I was so blown away by the sojok I still left with a 5/5 impression. The restaurant was cute with indoor and outdoor seating currently. It was not crowded at all when I went and I felt safe eating indoors. Bonus for me was their lemon infused water! I look forward to trying their other menu items!
- Titas B.
Excellent food! We had kibbi, tabouli, and kafta. They were all good. I like less lemon and more bulgar in my tabouli, but enjoyed it with the kibbi. Highly recommend!
This place is the best. The food is amazing. The chicken shawarma is the best I’ve ever had. The staff are so kind and so personable. I love that it’s a family run restaurant. My friend and were eating there and our waiter came to check on how we were liking our food. We raved about one of the sauces and he told us his mom makes the sauce. I love that!!
- Pamela W.
Food was excellent! Service was even better!! Highly recommend!!!
- May F.
This is one of my favorite places in town. The food is authentic (a pal from Lebanon swears by it) and delicious, and the menu is the same as the proprietor’s other restaurant in Lebanon. The staff members (some are family) are kind and professional. Vegan options so my pals can join me. Check this place out!
- Laurie K.
By far, one of the most elegant Lebanese restaurants that i have ever dined at in the states so far ?, located in a business district However they are open late, customer service is exceptional, the menu is huge and offers great authentic Lebanese cuisine items made with the freshest ingredients. Prices are reasonable. A must visit while in Portland
This is an amazing Lebanese restaurant! Both the food and the service are outstanding! It is one of our favorites!
- Jackie H.
Lebanese food is one of my favorite foods of all times!
I Stumbled by this restaurant while on a waterfront walk.
I was their last lunch customer. They greeted me with so much kindness and were so welcoming!
These guys execute the culture so incredibly well!
The food... AMAZING!!
Flavorful dishes, wonderful ambiance and hospitality.
They even served me an off lunch menu dish per my request.
This is what I call special treatment! THANK YOU!
- Tatiane M.
All and all was excellent, authentic Lebanese food, friendly and excellent service, and awesome family owners. It will be our restaurant to dine every time we are in Portland.
- Oussama A.
I love this little family owned/run restaurant! My second time here, I brought an out of town friend for something a little different. Food is authentic, staff is so friendly and helpful. My guest and I shared a couple of items, and still had leftovers. I will definitely be back, and I recommend anyone to go for a unique experience!
Me and my friends were dining at Al-Hawr Restaurant and we were very happy and satisfied because they have best food, friendly and respectful staff, beautiful decor and very comfortable and cozy atmosphere. We love this place. Definitely we will come back.
